ILCA by Ovingtonboats®
Ovington Boats was founded by Dave Ovington in 1975. Dave started out building traditional wooden boats. With the search for lighter boats, Dave moved into the use of fibreglass and developed the application of vacuum foam sandwich construction. Sadly, in March 2005 Dave passed away suddenly, but his legacy lives on in the business and in the people who have worked at Ovington Boats for many years. Ovington Boats has been successful as a specialist boatyard in the high performance light boat market. With a strong reputation for quality and service across a wide range of products, including the manufacture of the Olympic Class 49er, ILCA are confident that Ovington will be a strong partner in building ILCAs for the Spanish market.
The ILCA boat is a racing boat with over 200,000 boats in 140 countries, making it the most popular adult and youth racing boat in the world. It is a challenging boat that rewards athleticism, subtle steering and trim techniques, as well as tactical excellence. It is an Olympic class boat for men and women and is sailed at club, national and international level. The Ovington ILCA hull is built to all the unique design specifications of the International Laser Class Association.
